The Duchess of Cambridge nearly suffered an embarrassing wardrobe malfunction this morning when her very short, pleated skirt was blown up in the wind.

Kate held the front of the risque navy skirt down while the back billowed in the wind as she arrived in Canary Wharf for a forum on challenges facing children.

The Orla Kiely skirt, paired with a Max Mara jacket, came close to blowing up after she exited a blue Jaguar outside Clifford Chance LLP.

The 31-year-old mum was greeted by a schoolgirl, who presented the Duchess with a bunch of flowers.

Kate stood talking to the youngster for several minutes, despite the wind playing havoc with her outfit.

She is attending a forum hosted by the charity Place2Be, of which she is patron.

The Duchess, who was herself a victim of bullying as a child, will hear experts speak on cyberbullying, self-harm and special needs.

Speakers include Professors Stephen Scott and Tanya Byron.

The goal of the event is to find ways to raise aspirations, success and achievement.

Place2Be provides mental health and emotion support services to 75,000 children.

Yesterday Kate and Prince William visited crime prevention charity Only Connect in North London.
