Looking back on 2013, it's been an eventful year for Kate on the hair-front, having tried some more adventurous hairstyles.

No she didn't do a Beyonce and lop off her locks in favour of a pixie cut or a Rihanna, who has a weave for everyday of the year, but for the straight-laced future Queen, Kate chose a few looks that will sit in our 'favourites' that's for sure.

While she didn't always get it right, with some critics reckoning that Kate even had 'straw-like' curls on one particular outing - and we're not even sure what she was doing with the scrunchie at the Mandela: A Long Way To Freedom royal premiere - Kate on the whole managed to try out a few new looks without getting it too hideously wrong.

Kate apparently spent £600 on a six-hour hair session with hair stylist Rossano Ferretti at his luxury hair salon. He'd previously worked with Princess Diana, and is famed for his 'method' haircut, which he does with handmade texturizing scissors.

"Kate checked into the salon for a well-deserved pampering session," a source told Royal Watch. "When she emerged she looked amazing, her hair was loose and looked fabulous."

The Duchess even allegedly parted ways with her hair stylist James Pryce this year with The Telegraph reporting that since leaving the Richard Ward Salon after the royal wedding in 2011, he no longer worked closely with Kate.

"Richard Ward still cuts Kate's hair and she has her colour done at the salon," an insider source said. "Plus, she has her stylist, Amanda Cook Tucker, who blow dries her hair for events, but James has really been pushed out."

But Kate's locks made a lustrous return following 'grey-gate' at the Mandela royal premiere as well as at the Natural History Museum earlier this month.
