Looking Back At Kate Middleton, Duchess Of Cambridge And Her Controversial ...

Kate Middleton has the gorgeous, toned legs many would desire to have, so it comes as a surprise when the Queen reportedly issued the Duchess of Cambridge to ditch the short skirts in favour of more conservative hemlines. We take a look back at some of the Royal's most controversial skirts.

Before Kate said "I do" to Wills in April 2011, the young style icon was often snapped in super short and very tight fitted outfits hitting the London social scene on nights out and even on her graduation day but since officially becoming a Royal, the Duchess has opted for more conservative attire.

However, the yummy mummy has faced a few fashion faux pas - but is it do with the length of her hemlines?

Back in 2011 upon Kate's arrival in Calgary, Canada, the Duchess was slightly overshadowed by a gust of wind that caught the hemline of her yellow Jenny Packham dress - causing an unfortunate flash - and more recently, the same 'Marilyn moment' happened when Kate arrived at a children's charity event in November, where she donned a glam Oral Kiely skirt.

Even when the Duchess was pregnant with Prince George, Kate didn't allow the British weather to stop her from wearing short hemlines, she sported a polka dot Topshop mini dress during the inauguration of Warner Brothers which blew up infront of the waiting crowds.

Meanwhile, the Queen is said to have encouraged Kate Middleton to undergo a regal makeover ahead of her forthcoming tour of Australia and New Zealand with husband Prince William and has asked the Royal to rethink her wardrobe by offering the services of her personal dresser, Angela Kelly, reports The Mail On Sunday.

A Buckingham Palace source told the newspaper: "Angela has been asked to start selecting jewels ahead of the trip. She knows most of the pieces in the Queen's private collection.

"Her understanding is crucial because the trip will be able Kate appearing more Royal than ever - you can expect to see a lot more tiaras and the Queen will be watching closely."
