A posh pal of Prince William and Kate Middleton has been involved in a violent nightclub brawl that led to his HSBC vice president girlfriend being arrested.

Banker Till Bechtolsheimer was allegedly pushed on the dance floor by fellow clubber Daniel Kurkowski, 27, after he accidentally bumped into him.

Till is the brother of Olympic gold medal winner Laura Bechtolsheimer, 29, and Wills, Kate and Prince Harry attended her wedding.

Mr Bechtolsheimer's British girlfriend Julia Kadioglu is said to have retaliated when the fight broke out by smashing a bottle of Stella Artois lager over Mr Kurkowski's head, leaving him with a nasty gash.

The ugly confrontation happened at the swanky Electric Room nightclub at the Dream Hotel in New York's trendy Meatpacking district on January 19.

Miss Kadioglu, 32, is a vice president at HSBC bank, and Mr Bechtolsheimer is the grandson of billionaire real-estate baron Karl-Heinz Kipp.

She is said to have leapt to the defence of her boyfriend when the row broke out.

The Kipp family are close friends of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and last year the Royal couple attended the Swiss Alps wedding of London 2012 dressage winner Laura to polo player Mark Tomlinson, 31.

Prince Harry, 29, also attended the ceremony.

Miss Kadioglu, who graduated from St Andrews University at the same time as Prince William, 31, and then girlfriend Kate, 32, was reported to have been was taken out of the nightclub in handcuffs.

She was later released without bail after her arraignment in Manhattan Criminal Court.

Her lawyer Benjamin Yu said: "My client insists on her innocence. She's indignant she was even arrested."
