LONDON -- The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge William and Kate will be looking for a babysitter for newborn George for a night out at the movies.

The couple are set to attend the annual Royal Film Performance, which will also serve as the U.K. premiere of Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, in London next month.

The film's stars Idris Elba ( Nelson Mandela) and Naomie Harris ( Winnie Mandela), as well as BAFTA-winning director Justin Chadwick and Nelson Mandela's daughter Zindzi Mandela, are all expected to be on hand to meet the royal couple.

The Royal Film Performance is an annual charity gala for the Cinema and Television Benevolent Fund (CTBF).

The Royal Film Performance has been supported by members of the British royal family since 1946 when King George VI attended the premiere of A Matter of Life and Death, in Leicester Square.

This year's event is scheduled for Dec. 5 at the Odeon Leicester Square.

Also benefiting from this year's event is The Nelson Mandela Children's Fund.

Chadwick's film was made with the full support and endorsement of Mandela, the Nelson Mandela Foundation and the Nelson Mandela Centre of Memory.

South African producer Anant Singh spent 16 years developing the film, teaming up with former BBC Films' chief David Thompson to shoot the U.K.-South African co-production in May 2012.

The film was written by William Nicholson ( Gladiator, Les Miserables) and executive produced by French-owned, U.K.-based production, finance and distribution banner Pathe.

Executive producers for Pathe are Cameron McCracken and Francois Ivernel.

Pathe will roll out the film across the U.K. and Ireland starting on Jan. 3, 2014.
