Kate Middleton will glam up for a night out tomorrow

The Duchess of Cambridge will glam up for a night out tomorrow as husband William stays at home with baby Prince George.

Kate, 31, will dazzle as the guest of honour at the annual gala dinner for her charity SportsAid.

The glittering ball, sponsored by Tiffany & Co and Laurent-Perrier champagne, will be held at swanky pop-up venue Supernova in central London's Embankment Gardens.

The duchess will be joined by a host of Olympic and Paralympic stars honouring the next generation of British athletes.

The visit is just one of a few select royal engagements Kate is carrying out before Christmas as she focusses on being a mum to four-month-old George.

William, meanwhile, has increased his number of royal duties since leaving the armed forces in September, however he has the night off and it is believed he will put George to bed while his wife works.

Recent accounts by his brother Prince Harry suggest he might not relish this task.

In an interview ahead of his upcoming South Pole race, Harry joked: "My brother, yeah, I think he's just quite jealous that I managed to get away from a screaming child."

At the SportsAid ball, Kate will present the coveted One-to-Watch Award which honours a young British sportsman or woman who has demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to their career.

Previous winners of the award include diver Tom Daley and Team GB hockey player Harry Martin, who competed at London 2012. SportsAid helps the next generation of British athletes by giving them financial support and mentoring in the early stages of their careers.

Kate became their patron in April and in October she met their young athletes at the Olympic Park's Copper Box in her first solo engagement since giving birth.
